Little Jamaica Hot Springs
Considered the oasis of the Arizona desert, Little Jamaica is located in the far northwest corner of the state, situated near the Virgin River. It’s not very well known and honestly one of our favorite hot springs in the area. Not only are there caves to explore, but the cascading waters while you soak in the natural mineral waters is like something from a dream. Little Jamaica is the perfect way to spend a day rejuvenating your body and soul.

Details about Little Jamaica Hot Springs
Little Jamaica Hot Springs is an oasis tucked away in the heart of Arizona’s Sonoran Desert that has been providing locals and visitors alike with a natural refuge for centuries. Located near the town of Yuma, Little Jamaica is known for its crystal clear blue waters, which range from shallow pools to deeper springs. It is believed to have been used by Native Americans as far back as 1250 A.D., though it wasn’t until 1871 that settlers discovered its healing properties and began utilizing it regularly.
The hot springs are fed by underground aquifers, which provide naturally heated water up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year – making it perfect for soaking away stress and fatigue. The area also contains numerous mineral deposits including calcium carbonate, iron oxide, magnesium sulfate, sodium chloride and other trace minerals – all of which can help improve skin health and reduce inflammation when absorbed through the skin during a soak.
In addition to being great for relaxation purposes, Little Jamaica offers plenty of activities such as fishing in nearby lakes or taking part in various hiking trails along the surrounding mountainside terrain; there’s even kayaking available on some days! Wildlife watching is also popular here with many species present including javelinas (wild pigs), coyotes, bobcats and mule deer among others – so be sure to bring your camera if you plan on visiting! Perhaps most interestingly though are two legends associated with this unique spot: one tells how Native American tribes would travel here annually just before winter solstice; while another speaks of a hidden cavern beneath the surface full of gold coins left behind by Spanish Conquistadors hundreds of years ago.
There are several swimming holes you can enjoy at Little Jamaica Hot Springs. Many like the bigger pool with the flowing water down the rocks, but there are several more as you head down towards to river. After a quick soak, plunge into the Virgin River before having a bit to eat and doing it all over again. During the summer months this place has been known to become a party area and some will complain that trash is left in the wake of a fun weekend.

In the spring and summer months, Little Jamaica Hot Springs comes to life with lush vegetation and vibrant colors. This is why people tend to call it an oasis as it surprises you to see this in the middle of a desert.
