Hippy Dippy Hot Springs – Colorado
Situated on the San Juan River, Hippy Dippy (“Dip”) Hot Springs is a great underdeveloped set of warm pools that many visitors flock to during the summer months. Within Pagosa Springs, the hot spring capital of the world, you can enjoy a great soak in Colorado’s natural mineral waters. You’ll often see kids playing in the river, kayakers and people tubing drift by, and of course others enjoying the primitive hot springs pool. It’s not the most exciting hot springs in Colorado, but it’s free.
Hippy Dip Hot Springs offers a few rock pools that have been formed directly off the San Juan River. As soon as you arrive you will notice the extremely large pvc pipe where the source of the natural mineral waters begin and cascade down the hill into the pooled off areas. Each hot springs tub is roughly 105 degrees and can easily be controlled by moving rocks around to control the flow of water in from the river. Unfortunately no pool is that deep so you may need to lay down to get the perfect relaxing soak (especially in the winter time)

1. Start on Lewis Street and head towards North 4th Street
2. Make a left onto N 4th Street towards Hermosa St
3. Merge onto Hermosa Street which will lead you onto Hot Springs Blvd
4. The hot springs will be on you left within a couple hundred feet
Don’t be alarmed that many locals call it the “local homeless bath” as it’s situated almost under a bridge and gives that kind of vibe. A hot springs resort is very close by, but the natural waters are just the same. If you aren’t looking for any amenities other than just a relaxing and free hot soak, Hippy Dip Hot Springs is the perfect place for you.
