For those avid true campers who enjoy pitching a tent and sitting around a campfire at night, Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park, Alberta is for you. This primitive campground only has 33 sites and require tents only, but has some of the most scenic views in all of Canada. The campsites themselves have fire pits with wood for purchase if needed. Outside of that it’s just you and the wilderness.

Things to do around Jasper National Park
We believe that this may be the best campground when it comes to location. You are only minutes away from Mount Athabasca, Glacier, Andromeda, and Snow Dome. There are hiking trails all throughout the area for either short distant walks or all day adventures that let you see miles and miles of beautiful country. Of course we also can’t forget Columbia Icefield which allows you to take pictures of scenic Glaciers only miles from the campground. If you have time, head over the the Columbia Icefield Centre to get a history lesson on how these glaciers were formed.
If tent camping isn’t for you, there are also great cabins for rent in Japser National Park that will give you a little more pampering while still getting to enjoy Canada for all it’s beauty. For those who have RV, Wilcox Creek RV is also just down the street.
